Practicum or Independent Study Opportunities
We work with UW-Madison departments to provide practicum and independent study opportunities for students from history, library science and information, museum studies and other archives-related disciplines.
Students projects may include: digitizing photos or audio; processing artifact and poster collections; creating indexes or finding aids for a manuscript collection; preserving a glass negative collection.
Opportunities will depend on available collections and your specific course or area of study requirements.
Please communicate first with your academic adviser or program coordinator, to be sure our practicum or independent study opportunity fits your specific requirements.
If you are interested in learning more about independent study or practicum opportunities, email your request, including learning objectives and time requirement (e.g. 80 hours, 120 hours, etc.), a current resume and two references to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include the text “Independent Study or Practicum Experience Opportunities” in the subject line of your email.
All student work occurs during regular business hours, Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-5:00 pm. The University Archives is located in Steenbock Library on the UW-Madison campus and accessible by several Metro bus lines.
