The Shelving Facility is not open to the public. It is comprised of closed stacks that contain materials of the UW-Madison.

Holdings are listed in MadCat with the location UW-Madison Shelving Facility.


Requesting Material

Requests for books and journal volumes should be made through Place Requests in MadCat. Choose Retrieve from the Shelf from the drop-down menu.

Please note that journal volumes will be routed to your designated campus library for in-house, short-term use at that location. Journal articles are requested by using Interlibrary Loan.

If you are not eligible for Interlibrary Loan, are not affiliated with UW-Madison, or have another kind of request, please use this request form.


Circulation

Books and PhD Theses: Faculty/Staff/Graduate Students = Semester Loan

Books: Undergraduates/Special = 28 days

Journal Volumes & Master's Theses: Route to a designated campus library for in-house use


Collection Focus

Low-use materials from campus libraries such as: print journals with electronic equivalents, dissertations, and theses.
