ID Problems

NetID

UW-Madison Libraries use the campus authentication service, called NetID, to provide access to our licensed resources from off campus. In order to access these resources from off campus, you must navigate from the UW-Madison Libraries website, through which you will be prompted to provide your NetID credentials.

If you encounter problems logging in to a library resource with your NetID, contact the Library Technology Group Help Desk, (608) 262-8880, or consult Off-Campus Online Access for more information.

The DoIT Help Desk, help@doit.wisc.edu, (608) 264-4357, provides additional help for NetID problems.

Blocked ID Login Problem

You may be blocked from logging in to access your Library Catalog account, to place requests, or search certain library licensed databases. Some reasons for a blocked account are:

  • An item you have checked out has been recalled and is overdue.
  • You have an overdue Interlibrary Loan item.
  • You have more than two lost items on your library account.
  • Your Wiscard has expired.
  • You may need to replace your Community Borrowing Card.

If you have questions about a blocked account contact Circulation Support.

ID Lost / Replaced

If you lose your Wiscard, suspend it immediately through the Wiscard account management site. If you have lost a Community Borrowing Card, contact Circulation Support. Staff will block your card so that someone else cannot borrow items with it and issue you a replacement card.

If you replace your Wiscard, your library account will be automatically updated the following business day (Monday-Friday). If you need to borrow materials before your account is updated, contact Circulation Support to have your new ID number linked to your account.
