Moving Citations from ISI Web Databases into RefWorks

List of ISI Web Databases

In an ISI Web Database

  1. Click in the box to the left of desired records.
  2. Click on Add to Marked List at the top of the screen.
  3. Click on Marked List at the top of the screen.
  4. Select desired option under Step 1.
  5. Select Save to File with Field Tagged and Other Reference Software showing in drop-down menus under Step 2.
  6. Click in radio button to the left of Save to disk.
  7. Click on OK.
  8. Identify your disk drive and filename plus the extension .txt (plain text) in the File Name Box.
    Example: a:myfile.txt
  9. Click on Save.

In RefWorks

  1. Login to your RefWorks database if you have not already done so.
  2. Click on References and Import at the top of the screen.
  3. Select ISI (Institute for Scientific Information) from the Import Filter/Data Source drop-down menu.
  4. Select Web of Science from the Database drop-down menu
  5. Click on Import.
  6. At the Import Data from the following Text File box click on the Browse button to select the file name of your saved records.
  7. Your citation(s) will automatically be imported into the Last Imported Folder.

    You may now view your records and move them to the folder of your choice.
