Riches of Yiddish 78 rpm record collection highlighted in upcoming lecture

MADISON, Wis. - An important collection of Yiddish recordings from the Mills Music Library will be highlighted in a lecture by the collection's founder and donor, Sherry Mayrent.

Mayrent will speak about the collection and the diversity and span of the soundscape of Yiddish American life it represents. Examples of historic, important, unique and unusual pieces will be played and the back stories of these pieces revealed and discussed.

The lecture is part of A Biselle KlezKamp, a day-long event full of Yiddish dance, music, and culture. The event is free and open to the public.
