Russian Festival Concert set for Friday July 13

MADISON, Wis. - The Balalaika and Domra Association of America will be in Madison for their 34th annual convention and Festival Concert July 7‐14, 2012.

During this week many musicians from all over the world will convene in Madison to participate in workshops of instruction in playing, performance, folk dancing, chorus, lectures, activities, and rehearsals that will culminate in the Festival Concert on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 7:30 PM at the Middleton High School Performing Arts Center, 2100 Bristol Street in Middleton.

The concert will feature performances by balalaika and domra ensembles, soloists and the 100‐member Festival orchestra. The Orchestra is conducted by Victor Gorodinsky of the UW Russian Folk Orchestra. The BDAA is a 501(c)(3), multi‐ethnic, non‐profit, non‐political association dedicated to perpetuating music written for the balalaika, domra, and related instruments, to disseminate information pertaining to the musical and cultural heritage of Eastern European traditions and to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and developments concerning these instruments and their musical possibilities.
