Public Forums Will Discuss Humanities Research Bridge

Posted 11/10/2011

MADISON, Wis. –Faculty and staff members who are involved with UW–Madison’s Humanities Research Bridge will host three public forums to discuss and answer questions about the innovative partnership:

12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. November 14, Memorial Library Room 231
2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. November 29, Memorial Library Room 126
4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. December 8, Memorial Library Room 126

The Humanities Research Bridge is an initiative of the UW-Madison Libraries, DoIt Academic Technology, and the college of Letters and Science intended to provide services and a space (currently the second floor card catalogue room in Memorial Library) for digital research, workshops, consultations by appointment and collaboration.  This suite of services and spaces designed to support faculty and graduate level research and teaching collaborations in the humanities (broadly defined), will also offer opportunities to bring together librarians, technologists, and scholars across campus with expertise in a range of areas pertaining to digital research and teaching.

The Bridge's role in supporting collaborative efforts, such as Project Bamboo, will help position the University of Wisconsin on the cutting edge of new and exciting digital research in the humanities.   This space and these collaborations can benefit articles, books, dissertations, and other projects of all stripes. Robin Valenza is the faculty lead at Wisconsin on both Project Bamboo and the Humanities Research Bridge, Lee Konrad is spearheading these initiatives in the General Library System, and Carrie Roy is the coordinator for the Humanities Research Bridge.

For any questions regarding Project Bamboo, please contact Jim Muehlenberg jim.muehlenberg@doit.wisc.edu.  For any questions regarding the Humanities Research Bridge, please contact Carrie Roy croy@library.wisc.edu.  We look forward to hearing from you and hope you can join us at one of the upcoming forums.
