Wisconsin Literary Voices Ring For Tenth Wisconsin Book Festival

Posted 10/05/2011

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Book Festival will take place in locations throughout downtown Madison October 19-23, 2011. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the festival, the theme of which is "Voices" for 2011.

From the festival website:
The Wisconsin Book Festival is a free, five-day program of public events that takes place every October in downtown Madison. It is the state's largest literary festival, drawing thousands of attendees annually.

Since its inception in 2002, the Wisconsin Book Festival has been a showcase for literary talent from across the state of Wisconsin and beyond.  It is a forum for people to come together and sit face to face and side by side, to talk and listen, whisper, laugh, cry, sing, sign, write notes, tell jokes, and give voice to their ideas. The Wisconsin Book Festival is a special project of the Wisconsin Humanities Council, an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit, and works to fulfill the WHC’s mission: Community through Conversation.

The 2011 festival schedule is packed with several new events:

  • A Day of Book Festival Programming for High School Students. *Registration Only*
  • An Interactive Prisoner Re-entry Simulation *Registration Only*
  • Live Printmaking in the Overture Center Lobby: Pull your Own Commemorative Print with Amos Kennedy
  • Coffee and Books in the First Annual Bookseller's Lounge Upstairs at the Overture Center
