UW–Madison Libraries' Edible Book Festival 2011

MADISON, Wis. – Celebrate National Library Week by participating in the UW–Madison Libraries’ annual Edible Book Festival. Aspiring artists, cake designers, book illustrators, and foodies are encouraged to participate in the event that will take place on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, 4:00–6:30 p.m. in Memorial Library, room 460. The subject of your submission should of course be related to books in shape or content. Application forms must be submitted no later than Monday, April 4.

Guest judges for the festival include Nichole Fromm, librarian and co-author of the blog "Eating in Madison A to Z" and Morgan Hiscocks, graduate student in the UW–Madison Art Department and assistant at Silver Buckle Press. Prizes at this year's festival will include gift certificates from local businesses like Avol's Bookstore, Booked for Murder Mystery Bookstore, Frugal Muse Bookstore, Orange Tree Imports, and Wisconsin Cutlery and Kitchen Supply.

The Edible Book Festival first came to the UW–Madison Libraries in 2006 as part of the School of Library and Information Studies’ Centennial celebration. The Festival is an extension of the International Edible Book Festival, which started in 1999.

The event is free and open to the public. For information about the festival, images of past award winners, and an application form, visit library.wisc.edu/edible-book.
