Wake up! Libraries offer free coffee and more during finals week

MADISON, Wis. – The UW-Madison Libraries have extended hours and are holding special events and giveaways in an effort to help students during finals next week.

The west corridor and InfoLab at Memorial Library are open 24 hours per day until Thursday, May 15, and the rest of the library is open from 8 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. daily.

College Library is open continuously until Saturday, May 17, when the library will close at 4:45 p.m. College Library staff have also arranged for special visits from Bucky Badger all week.

Special events include:

Wednesday, May 7 – GUTS workshop on study skills and exam preparation
5:30 p.m., room 1193D College Library

Wednesday, May 7 - Friday, May 9 – Story time with free candy
12-12:30 p.m., CIMC atrium

Thursday, May 8 – Free candy giveaway
11 a.m., College Library, while supplies last

Friday, May 9 – Open Book Café offers free coffee, tea and hot chocolate
7 p.m. – 2 a.m., College Library

Saturday, May 10 – GUTS study day assistance
2 p.m. – 8 p.m., College Library, free coffee and donuts while supplies last

Saturday May 10 – Free coffee
8 p.m. – 10 p.m., Memorial Library west corridor

Sunday, May 11 – Stress balls available
All day, College Library

Monday, May 12 – Fortune cookie and Magic 8 ball giveaways
11 a.m., College Library, while supplies last

Tuesday, May 13 – Coloring Day
All day, College Library

Aside from the specially scheduled events, many campus libraries also offer refreshments informally to students and faculty during exam week each semester.

Sponsors for the week's events include College Library, the General Library System, Office of the Dean of Students, GUTS, the Wisconsin Union, Starbucks, Espresso Royale and Einstein Bagels.
