MADISON, Wis. –Three UW–Madison students have received a “Certificate of Recognition” and a $200 honorarium from the Friends of the UW–Madison Library for their work printed in the Fall 2006 edition of Illumination, an undergraduate journal of the humanities that is sponsored in part by the UW–Madison Libraries and the Friends.
The Friends honor a student in each of three categories -- poetry, fiction and essay. Ashley Dallman has been recognized for her poem "Tornar: Winds Teach Women." Rachel Kowarski received the fiction honor for “Once You Learn,” and Lindsay Woodbridge earned an award for her essay “Small Talk.”
Illumination, which is available for free at several locations around Madison and the campus, including Memorial and College libraries, was first published in spring 2005. The editor-in-chief of the Fall 2006 edition is Xiao Yu Wang.
