Friends of UW-Madison Libraries to host Wisconsin's largest used book sale, Oct. 6-9

MADISON, Wis. -- More than 15,000 books will go on sale during Wisconsin’s largest used book sale Wednesday through Saturday, October 6-9, in 116 Memorial Library, 728 State St. The sale, sponsored by the Friends of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Libraries, is the 18th of its kind and draws visitors from all over the Midwest.

Books for the sale are donated primarily by faculty, staff, students and Madison-area residents. Among the subjects covered in this sale include: American studies, fiction, foreign languages, cooking, physical and biological sciences, computer science, government, political science, law, education, fine arts, self-help, reference, business, social sciences, religion, philosophy, women's studies, and history. The sales help fund an annual lecture series, special purchases for the library collections, and a visiting scholar support program.

Sales are open to the public.

A preview sale ($5 admission) will be 5-9 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 6. The regular sale, with no admission fee, will be 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 7, and Friday, Oct. 8. On Saturday, Oct. 9, from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m., visitors can bring a bag and fill it for $2 (or buy a bag for $1 at the sale).
