MADISON, Wis. -- More than 15,000 books will go on sale during Wisconsin's largest used book sale this Wednesday through Saturday, March 3-6, at 116 Memorial Library. The sale, sponsored by the Friends of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Libraries, is the 17th of its kind and draws visitors from all over Midwest.
Books for the sale are donated primarily by faculty, staff, students and Madison-area residents. Among the subjects covered by available books include: American studies, fiction, foreign languages, cooking, physical and biological sciences, computer science, government, political science, law, education, fine arts, self-help, reference, business, social sciences, religion, philosophy, women's studies, and history. Money from the sales helps fund an annual lecture series, special purchases for the library collections, and a visiting scholar support program.
The sale in fall 2003 raised more than $22,000. Money from the sales helps fund an annual lecture series, special purchases for the library collections, and a visiting scholar support program.
Sales are open to the public and are held in Room 116 of Memorial Library, 728 State St. Preview sales are held on the Wednesday before a scheduled sale, and require a $5 admission fee. Regular sales have no admission fee and run Thursday through Saturday, with the Saturday sale offering books at $2 per bag (bring your own bag).
