College Library to open 24-hours a day
Posted 8/15/2003
MADISON, Wis.-- Starting this fall, College Library will be open 24 hours a day from Sunday morning through Friday night. All three floors of the library will remain open with full services available. This includes the computer lab, circulation, reserves, access to the collections, available study space on all three floors, and vending services.
The library will open Sunday at 10 a.m. and stay open continuously until closing on Friday at 11:45 p.m. Saturday hours will be 10 a.m. - 11:45 p.m. The new hours apply to both fall and spring semesters. The schedule will be modified as needed for holidays and break periods. Students will be required to present a valid UW-Madison photo ID to gain access to the building starting at midnight.
This one-year pilot project is the result of requests from students, especially ASM, the student government. Surveys they conducted indicated overwhelming support to have the libraries continue to provide 24-hour services, but to move these services to College Library.
Memorial Library, where the pilot began, will resume its previous
library hours.
