College Librarian receives UW System Oustanding Woman of Color in Education Award

MADISON, Wis. – The UW-Madison Libraries are pleased to announce that College Library’s Outreach Coordinator Janice Rice, is this year’s recipient of the UW System Outstanding Woman of Color in Education Award for the UW-Madison campus. The system event was held this weekend as part of the joint Wisconsin Women’s Studies and LGBTQ conference.
The UW-Madison will hold its own event “Outstanding Women of Color” on Monday, April 13, 2009, to honor Janice and additional UW-Madison Women of Color honorees. The event will take place from 5:30–7:30 p.m. in the Alumni Lounge of the Pyle Center, 702 Langdon St. The event is free and open to the public, however those who are interested in attending are asked to RSVP online or by calling 608-265-2257 by Tuesday, April 7, 2009.
Janice is the past president of the American Indian Library Association, a member of the American Library Association’s Council on Diversity, and co-chair of the Joint Conference of Librarians of Color, 2012. Janice is involved in many community efforts and leads the College Library in creating connections with undergraduate programs on campus.
