Pinsky’s visit caps off the "Celebrating Books" events. The Friends of the UW-Madison Libraries and the Wisconsin Union Distinguished Lecture Series are cosponsoring the lecture. Funding is provided by the Joyce Foundation, the Keller Family Foundation, and Associated Students of Madison.

The women plan to produce some self-paced tutorial modules that will teach strategies for finding quality information online related to international women's issues. The modules will be mounted on the Web site of the UW System Women's Studies Librarian's Office. The project is titled "Researching International Women's Issues: Web Tutorial Modules for UW System Campuses."

Rolich has been working for the UW Libraries for 37 years. He began library work in the U.S. Navy in World War II as the librarian on a ship stationed in the South Pacific. In 1956 he took a job working in an engineering library in New York before becoming an interpreter with for the Moscow Circus as they toured the United States.

The One-A-Week Club is organized to encourage university staff and students to donate blood. Interested staff may become a member of the club at anytime. In addition to scheduled blood drives on campus, Youngblood in Union South is open every Thursday and Friday for donations.

CCBC director Ginny Moore Kruse and librarians Kathleen T. Horning and Megan Schliesman selected the Choices books, which include 48 first-publishedworks of 26 authors and 22 illustrators. All books listed in CCBC Choices 2001 are available for examination in the CCBC throughout the spring. The Friends of the CCBC published the guide.

Mary Lin was transferred into the Cataloging Department where she has been assigned to do original cataloging of East Asian materials. She is a new member of the Original Cataloging Unit.

York Lin was transferred into the Acquisitions Department where he has been assigned work in East Asian and other languages. He now has a split appointment between the Order and Check-in Units.

Michael Meng was transferred into the Cataloging Department where he has been assigned to do copy cataloging of East Asian materials. He is a new member of the Copy Cataloging Unit.

Frazier writes to discourage libraries from settling for aggregate packages of electronic resources that allow publishers unrestrained control over the content and cost of the assortment. His essay spurred a debate among digital resource developers from around the country, which is accessible in the April edition of D-Lib Magazine.

In this edition, Duxbury details nearly 700 new examples of recorded rock instrumentals and songs borrowing classical music themes. This 580-page volume includes several new entries in the areas of progressive rock and heavy metal. The publisher promotes this book and its earlier supplement and discography as a source that "will be appreciated by students, researchers, record collectors, trivia buffs, music industry employees, and fans of rock music and the classics."
