  • In the Nov. 12 edition of the Capital Times, editor Dave Zweifel wrote a column about the Swiss exhibit currently displayed in the west corridor of Memorial Library, "The Sister Republics: Switzerland and the United States from 1776 to the Present." Alfred Defago, the former Swiss ambassador to the United States spoke at the "official" opening of the exhibit. Zweifel's column, "Plain Talk," included some of the highlights from the lecture and the display.

25 YEARS AGO IN THE LIBRARIES

~ Library of Congress display visits UW-Madison Libraries

Through November and December, 1976, a traveling exhibit from the Library of Congress was on display in Memorial Library. The exhibit, "Papermaking: Art and Craft," drew extensively on the collections of the Library of Congress. The exhibit illustrated the role of paper in giving ideas their visible form and helping to communicate knowledge.

QUOTATION

- Lawrence Clark Powell ("At the Heart of the Matter").
