2016 is all about William Shakespeare! Celebrating the 400th anniversary of the Bard’s death, the University of Wisconsin-Madison is pleased to join a special list of institutions that have been selected as host sites for the First Folio! The Book that Gave Us Shakespeare!, a national traveling exhibition of the Shakespeare First Folio, one of the world’s most treasured books. The Folger Shakespeare Library, in partnership with Cincinnati Museum Center and the American Library Association, is touring a First Folio of Shakespeare in 2016 to all 50 states, Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico. The rare book will find its way to Wisconsin, and be exhibited in the Chazen Museum of Art beginning in November. But until then, the UW-Madison Libraries, the Chazen, and the Arts Institute have partnered to help organize an entire year dedicated to Will, as we prepare to kick off Shakespeare in Wisconsin 2016 in just a few short weeks.
