NOTE: The best way to find listings of electronic versions of books by women is to search the Celebration of Women Writers site (see below), edited by Mary Mark Ockerbloom, and the Online Books Page, by John Mark Ockerbloom, both mounted by the University of Pennsylvania Digital Library. Examples of various projects linked from these sites as well as other resources on women writers are listed below. There is no way to search only women writers in Google Books, though if you know the author or title you are interested in, it is definitely worth trying.
- American Female Poets, an 1853 anthology, is one of the books in fulltext in the American Verse Project at the University of Michigan.
- Bartleby.com: Great Books Online includes works by Agatha Christie, Emily Dickinson, Sarah Orne Jewett, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Emily Post, Gertrude Stein, and Mary Wollstonecraft.

- Brown Women Writers Project is creating an electronic textbase of women's writing in English before 1830.
- William B. Cairns Collection of American Women Writers 1650-1920, University of Wisconsin - Madison, Memorial Library site describes this major literary collection. "What Can a Woman Do?" by Amy Hielsberg is an article about the collection, from the Wisconsin Alumnus v. 86, no. 3 (1985) (click on the article from the table of contents).
- Contemporary Women Novelists: A Selected Annotated List, by Helene Androski (1996)
- A Celebration of Women Writers is browsable by author, century, and country. Included are links to available on-line works by or about them.
- The Literature section of the Feminist Majority Foundation site includes links to many pages for individual authors.
- Digital Schomburg Collection of African American Women Writers of the Nineteenth Century digitized works including visual images. - Domestic Goddesses, a.k.a. Scribbling Women page by Kim Wells, Texas A.& M, collects literary criticism for six Victorian writers of domestic fiction. Writers are Louisa May Alcott, Willa Cather, Kate Chopin, Sarah Orne Jewett, Harriet Beecher Stowe, and Edith Wharton.

- Nineteenth Century American Women Writers texts is a section of the Society for the Study of American Women Writers's site.
- Texts by Women Writers from the Modern English Collection, University of Virginia Electronic Text Center, includes scores of works by American and British women writers.
- Project Gutenberg, the pioneer project to offer books in electronic form on the Internet, contains whole texts of Emma Goldman, Kate Chopin, Olive Schreiner,and other women writers. Database is searchable by author or title from the opening page. Click on "search" for more search options, including subject.
- Sisters in Crime (SinC) "is an international organization of writers, readers, booksellers, librarians, agents, editors, reviewers and teachers interested in promoting the work of women mystery writers." Site includes a bibliography, arranged by author and books-in-print catalogs, which currently works for children and young adult and works in German.
- Victorian Women Writers Project at Indiana Univ. includes works by British writers Louisa Bevington, Amy Levy, Dollie Radford, and others.
