Gender Watch
GenderWatch (previously Women 'R') is a women's and gender issues database with thousands of full-text articles from about 100 magazines, academic journals, regional publications, and newsletters; thirteen books on women and gender; and many special reports, including conference proceedings and government reports. Articles labeled "Diversity Folio" are selected from newspapers and magazines of American ethnic communities.
Communication & Mass Media Complete
CMMC incorporates CommSearch (formerly produced by the National Communication Association) and Mass Media Articles Index (formerly produced by Penn State) along with numerous other journals to create a research and reference resource of unprecedented scope and depth in the communication and mass media fields.
Communication Abstracts
Communication Abstracts includes abstracts of communication-related articles from 160 journals. Abstracts also cover reports, papers, and books from a variety of publishers, research institutions, and information sources from throughout the world. Coverage includes not only communication literature but also literature in other disciplines relevant to communication researchers. Major topics include general and mass communication; advertising; marketing; broadcasting; communication theory; interpersonal, intrapersonal, small group, and organizational communication; journalism; public opinion; public relations; radio; speech; and television.
Proquest Research Library
ProQuest Research Library, indexes more than 2,000 periodicals, and provides the full text of nearly 1,000 of them. It has a mix of general interest and academic journals that cover the arts, business, education, health, humanities, psychology, sciences, and the social sciences. It contains periodicals covering multicultural and women's issues and international affairs. Dates vary, but many full-text journals go back to 1988. Some articles contain images, including charts, photos, cartoons, and other illustrations.
Academic Search Elite
Academic Search Elite, an EBSCO database, is a general academic index that indexes almost 3,000 magazines and journals from every academic discipline and provides the full-text of more than 1,200.
Sociological Abstracts
The Sociological Abstracts database indexes and abstracts 2,000 worldwide journals in sociology. Relevant dissertations have been added since 1986. Also included is the Social Planning Policy and Development Abstracts (SOPODA) database, which covers applied sociology journal article abstracts since 1980. Formerly sociofile.

Electronic Versions of the Article:

  • Use the Find It button in the database.

  • FindIt (search for the title of the journal).

  • MadCat (do a basic search for the journal title).

  • Not everything is full text.

Print Versions of the Article:

  • Check MadCat (do a basic search for the journal title).

  • Make sure the library owns that particular issue:

    • Click on the title of the journal;

    • Check the "Library Has"

    • If it is listed as "Library Has (new)" it is in the current periodicals area of the library.

Go Get the Materials and Write Down or Print Out :

  • the call number;

  • library location;

  • journal title

  • volume and issue number

  • page numbers, etc (more is better)!
