Yellow Wood Sorrel is a perennial or annual reproducing by seed, clover-like
in appearance and reaches a height of 6-12 inches. Leaflets are grouped in clusters
of three and may hang inverted. The root system consists of underground runners.
Flowers are 1/4-1/2 inch wide and are yellow in color. Flowering occurs during
the months of June-August.
Remarks:
The plant is found commonly throughout the state of Wisconsin. It can often
be found growing along roadsides and in gardens. It prefers moist, well-drained
soils. It is commonly found growing in new plantings and in bare areas in established
cranberry beds. It does not seriously compete with cranberry vines and is often
eliminated as vine densities increase.
