Plant Description:
A colonial, perennial grass reproducing by underground rhizomes and seed. Plants
stand erect and reach a height of 3-5 feet. Leaves are flat and 10-20 mm wide.
Panicles are branched. Flowering occurs during the months of June-September.
Remarks:
Reed Canary Grass is an aggressive grass which has the potential to overtake
existing vegetation and produce a solid monotype. It can be found growing in
wetlands adjacent to cranberry marshes statewide. It can often be found in drainage
ditches and along reservoirs on cranberry marshes. It may invade new plantings.
