Plant Description:
An annual plant reaching from 1-4 feet in height. Leaves are alternate and are
finely toothed. Flowering occurs during the months of June-September. Flowers
range in color from an orange to brown. Fruit is a capsule and when mature,
breaks open with the slightest touch.
Remarks:
Jewel Weed is common to a variety of wetland habitats, including cranberry marshes.
It can be found on some cranberry marshes growing alongside drainage ditches
and bed edges. It is not a serious pest.
