Plant Description:
Plants range in height from 6-24 inches. Leaves are located in an opposite arrangement
on square and somewhat hairy stems. Bottom leaves are lobed and upper leaves
are toothed. Plants parts have a minty smell when broken apart. Flowers appear
as clusters at leaf axils during the months of July-September.
Remarks:
Water Horehound or Bugleweed is often found growing in wetland areas adjacent
to cranberry marshes statewide. Both plants often invade bare or thinly vined
areas in cranberry beds. They prefer moist, well drained soils.
