Plant Description:
A perennial sedge primarily reproducing from root stock. The triangular stems
are long and slender and grow to a height of 1-3 feet. It produces a cottonball
like top during the months of May-August.
Remarks:
Tawny Cottongrass is found commonly in many wetland areas throughout the state.
It is a common invader of many cranberry beds statewide. It prefers areas with
peat soils and poor drainage. It can be a problem if left uncontrolled.
