Plant Description:
Broom Sedge is a perennial plant growing from 10-24 inches in height. The plant
has slender triangular stems that grow in clumps. Terminal branched seed heads
are produced during the months of July-October. Reproduction occurs by seed
or by underground stolons.
Remarks:
Broom Sedge is common to wetland meadows, swamps, and marshes. It can be found
growing on cranberry marshes statewide. It is a common invader of new plantings
and low wet areas in established beds. Broom sedge is often introduced with
vine cuttings, either as seed or root stock.
