Plant Description:
Three-Leaved Solomon's Seal is a perennial plant reaching from 3-12 inches in
height. It primarily reproduces by underground stolons. Plants usually have
3 lance-shaped leaves that are attached to the stem. The plant produces clusters
of white flowers during the months of April-June. Several deep red berries are
produced after the flowers are pollinated.
Remarks:
Three-Leaved Solomon's Seal is often found in wetland areas. It is a common
invader of cranberry marshes in northern Wisconsin and may become a serious
pest if control measures are not taken. It is introduced into new plants with
vine cuttings.
