THE UNIVERSITY'S FIRST HOME

Red brick building erected in 1847 for the Madison Female Academy; occupied by the State University, 1850-51; and used for the city High School, 1860-73. In the latter year, demolished to make room for the present High School building. From a sketch made in 1873 by William H. Bradley, U. W. '78.
