These pages help you identify, locate, and obtain dissertations and theses of the UW-Madison and other universities. While the UW-Madison Libraries have all UW-Madison doctoral dissertations and large numbers of UW-Madison master's theses, the Libraries do not systematically collect dissertations and theses from other institutions.

Not All UW-Madison Dissertations and Master's Theses Immediately Available

Dissertations and theses from 1892-1964 are in the UW-Madison Shelving Facility. UW-Madison affiliated users: Use Place Requests in MadCat to request item. Non-affiliated users or visitors: Fill out the Shelving Facility Request form. Note: Master's theses are not available for loan (See Borrow/Purchase tab for options).

Where do I deposit my dissertation or thesis?

The Graduate School sends Ph.D. dissertations for microfilming and binding. You or your designate must bring your unbound Master's thesis to Memorial Library, Room B137.
