Moving Citations from RefShare into RefWorks
Note: RefShare account must be set up to allow export.
Method 1, Direct Export: Use if you are on-campus
In RefShare account
- Click in the box to the left of desired records.
- Click EXPORT.
- Click in the circle next to EXPORT DIRECTLY TO YOUR REFWORKS ACCOUNT.
- Click EXPORT TO REFWORKS.
In RefWorks
- Your citation(s) will automatically be imported into the LAST IMPORTED FOLDER.
You may now view your records and move them to the folder of your choice.
Method 2, Copy-and-Paste : Use if you are off-campus
In RefShare account
- Click in the box to the left of desired records.
- Click EXPORT.
- Click in the circle next to REFWORKS TAGGED FORMAT.
- Click EXPORT TO A TEXT FILE.
- The text file will open in another browser window with the top line "Refworks Export Tagged Format". Click EDIT, then SELECT ALL, then COPY from browser toolbar.
In RefWorks
- Log in to your RefWorks account from the campus RefWorks web site.
- Place your cursor over REFERENCES and click IMPORT.
- Select REFWORKS TAGGED FORMAT in the IMPORT FILTER/DATA SOURCE: drop-down menu.
- Select TAGGED FORMAT in the DATABASE: drop-down menu.
- (Optional) Select a destination folder name in the IMPORT REFERENCES INTO FOLDER drop-down menu.
- Select IMPORT DATA FROM THE FOLLOWING TEXT.
- PASTE copied information into the provided text box.
- Click IMPORT.
Your citation(s) will automatically be imported into the LAST IMPORTED FOLDER.
You may now view your records and move them to the folder of your choice if desired.
