Method 2: Retains diacritics

In RefWorks

Use this method if you are concerned about retaining diacritics. This method transfers call number but does NOT transfer campus library location.
  1. Login to your RefWorks database if you have not already done so.
  2. Click Online Catalog or Database from the Search menu.
  3. Select University of Wisconsin, Madison from the Online Database to Search: drop-down menu.
  4. Enter your search terms in either the Quick Search terms box or the Advanced Search Field box(es).
    Use Quick search:
    • When you have a single term or phrase to search.
    • You want your term searched in all available fields of a record.
    Use Advanced Search:
    • When combining several terms using the multiple search boxes and connecting them with the AND or OR connectors.
    • When you want to specify a particular field to search, such as title.
  5. Click Search.
Note: The results of your search are shown in a temporary RefWorks search results window and will be lost if not assigned to a folder.
  6. Click in the box to the left of the Ref ID: to mark each record you wish to keep.
  7. Select a folder in the Import to Folder... drop-down menu.
  8. Click Import.
Note: If your search yields more than one page of results, you must select and import results from each temporary RefWorks search results page separately. It is not possible to "retain" selected records from multiple pages of results.
