Configuring Papers 2 for Library Remote Access

1. From PAPERS 2 menu, choose PREFERENCES.
2. Click ACCESS tab.
3. Choose University of Wisconsin-Madison in the Use Library Proxy drop-down menu.
4. In the LIBRARY WEBSITE URL: box, type the following URL:
   

   http://www.library.wisc.edu/
   
   

5. Check GO TO THIS PAGE WHEN PAPERS IS STARTED.
6. Leave the EXCEPT FOR list of URLs to not proxy as is.

Configuring Papers 1 for Library Remote Access

1. From PAPERS menu, choose PREFERENCES.
2. Click SOURCES tab.
3. In the AUTHENTICATION URL: box, type the following URL:
   

   http://ezproxy.library.wisc.edu/login?url=http://www.library.wisc.edu/

4. Check GO TO THIS PAGE WHEN PAPERS IS STARTED.
5. In the LIBRARY PROXY: box type the following URL:
   

   http://ezproxy.library.wisc.edu/login?url=%@

Configuring Web of Science Plug-in Search

1. Point to your home directory
   

   /Library/Application Support/Papers/Plugins/
   SearchEngines/WOSSearchEngine.searchengine/Contents/Resources/

2. Change the contents of gatewayurl.txt
   
   from:
   

   http://wok-ws.isiknowledge.com/esti/soap/SearchRetrieve

   
   to:
   

   http://wok-ws.isiknowledge.com.ezproxy.library.wisc.edu/esti/soap/SearchRetrieve

Google Scholar and other Free Content

Searching Google Scholar and other free content from within Papers may result in being blocked from access to content. You will see an E-Resources/Articles Database "Resource Configured Incorrectly" screen. If you encounter this screen, try this work around:

1. Click View in the Papers menu.
2. Choose Reload without Proxy.

Configuring Papers 1 for PubMed

1. From PAPERS menu, choose PREFERENCES.
2. Click ACCESS.
3. Add http://nih.gov under EXCEPT FOR:.

Papers for iPad/iPhone

1. From the PAPERS menu, choose SETTINGS.
2. In the PROXY SETTINGS box, type the following URL:
   

   http://ezproxy.library.wisc.edu/login?url=%@

3. Set Use EZproxy to ON.
   
4. If you encounter a journal website that is access-restricted, tap the address bar to invoke an action pop-up.
5. Tap Login/Authenticate.
   
6. On the Libraries' Remote Access to Library Resources page, tap Login With Your NetID.
7. Enter your NetID and password.
