Ask a Librarian

Register

  1. Click SIGN IN OR REGISTER under sidebar CUSTOMIZE YOUR EXPERIENCE.
  2. Enter email and password, and click SUBMIT REGISTRATION.

Log In (if already registered)

  1. Click SIGN IN OR REGISTER at bottom of welcome screen.
  2. Enter email address and password, and click SIGN IN.

RSS Feeds of Saved Searches

  1. Perform a search.
  2. Click SEARCH HISTORY.
  3. Click SAVE HISTORY/CREATE ALERT.
  4. Enter a name in the required HISTORY NAME box.
  5. Fill in form for format and frequency.
  6. Click SAVE to Save your history to the Server.
  7. Click XML.
  8. Copy the URL IN THE ADDRESS BOX to paste into your RSS Reader.

Email Alerts of Saved Searches

Note: You will receive alerts even if no new matching records have been added to the databases.

  1. Click SEARCH HISTORY.
  2. Click SAVE HISTORY/CREATE ALERT..
  3. Enter a name in the required HISTORY NAME box.
  4. Select SEND ME E-ALERTS.
  5. Select email format, alert type, and frequency (weekly or monthly).
  6. Click SAVE.
  7. Click DONE.

Modify Email Alerts

  1. Click SEARCH HISTORY.
  2. Click OPEN SAVED HISTORY.
  3. Click SETTINGS next to desired search and make changes.
  4. Click SAVE.
  5. Click DONE.

Saved Searches of Cited Articles

Save a Cited Article Search

  1. Perform a SEARCH for a specific paper. (Use Search rather than Cited Reference Search to monitor articles that have not been cited yet.)
  2. Click the article title to display the record.
  3. Click CREATE CITATION ALERT in the sidebar..
  4. Click DONE.
  5. Follow Modify Citation Alerts instructions to uncheck SEND ME CITATION ALERT.

Modify Citation Alerts/View My Cited Articles List

  1. Click MY CITATION ALERTS.
  2. Click MODIFY SETTINGS.
  3. Make changes.
  4. Click SUBMIT CHANGES.
  5. Click TIMES CITED NUMBER by desired article to view the list of articles citing it.

Email Alerts of Cited Articles

Note: You will receive an email whenever the citation is cited. There is no setting for weekly or monthly alerts.

  1. Perform a SEARCH for a specific paper. (Use Search rather than Cited Reference Search to monitor articles that have not been cited yet.)
  2. Click the article title to display the record.
  3. Click CREATE CITATION ALERT in the sidebar..
  4. Click DONE.
  5. Follow Modify Citation Alerts instructions to change settings for email format. e.g.Use Field Tagged format if you plan to put results into RefWorks.

RSS Feeds of Cited Articles

  1. Click MY CITATION ALERTS.
  2. Click XML
  3. Copy the URL IN THE ADDRESS BOX to paste into your RSS Reader.
