Ask a Librarian

Register

  1. Click SIGN UP HERE under the heading "Need to register?"
  2. Fill in the form and then click REGISTER.

Log In

  1. Click HOME to return to the Ingenta home page.
  2. Under "Sign In," enter your user name and password and then click GO.

RSS Feeds

Note: RSS feeds are not yet available for subject searches, but they are available for journal issues.

  1. Click HOME to return to the Ingenta home page.
  2. Enter a journal title in the search box. (Note that UW-Madison does not subscribe to all of the Ingenta journals available).
  3. Choose JOURNAL OR BOOK TITLE, and then click GO.
  4. In the results list, click the name of the journal.
  5. Right-click RSS FOR LATEST ISSUE or RSS FOR RECENT ISSUES and then select COPY SHORTCUT.
  6. Follow your feed-reader's instructions to paste this shortcut (address) into your feed reader.

Saved Searches

Save Search History (to rerun later)

  1. Click SEARCH HISTORY.
  2. Click SEARCH ALERTS.
  3. Click the SEARCH HISTORY tab.
  4. Select a search by clicking in the box next to the search.
  5. Select TO NEW FOLDER from the drop-down menu and then click GO.
  6. Enter a name for the new folder and then click OK.
  7. The folder will be listed under the SAVED SEARCHES tab.

Use Saved Search History

  1. Click SEARCH HISTORY.
  2. Click SEARCH ALERTS.
  3. Click the SAVED SEARCHES tab.
  4. Click SHOW RESULTS to re-run the search or SEARCH FOR UPDATES to find the newest articles.

Modify Saved Search History

  1. Click SEARCH HISTORY.
  2. Click SEARCH ALERTS.
  3. Click the SAVED SEARCHES tab.
  4. Click MODIFY SEARCH.
  5. Change the keyword, author, publication and date range information.
  6. Click SEARCH.
  7. Check the search results to make sure the new search is satisfactory.
  8. Click SEARCH HISTORY.
  9. Click SEARCH ALERTS.
  10. Click the SEARCH HISTORY tab.
  11. Select a search by clicking in the box next to the search.
  12. Select AS INDIVIDUAL ITEM from the drop-down menu and then click GO.

Email Alerts

  1. Click SEARCH HISTORY.
  2. Click SEARCH ALERTS.
  3. Click the SAVED SEARCHES tab.
  4. Select a search by clicking in the box next to the search.
  5. Choose CREATE ALERT from the drop-down menu and click GO.

Modify Email Alerts

  1. Click SEARCH HISTORY.
  2. Click SEARCH ALERTS.
  3. Click the SEARCH ALERTS tab.
  4. Select an alert by clicking in the box next to the search.
  5. Click DELETE.
