Ask a Librarian

Register

  1. Click SIGN IN.
  2. Click I'M A NEW USER and fill in the fields.
  3. Click SUBMIT.

Log In

  1. Click SIGN IN.
  2. Follow screen directions and click LOGIN.

RSS Feeds

  1. Follow Email Alerts directions.
  2. Select NO EMAIL (RSS ONLY)
  3. Copy ALERT SYNDICATION FEED URL from YOUR ALERT HAS BEEN CREATED screen.
  4. Open your feed reader and paste the url. Example: in Bloglines (www.bloglines.com), click on MY FEEDS/ADD, paste the copied url into BLOG OR FEED URL box, click SUBSCRIBE.

Saved Searches

Save Search History (to rerun later)

  1. Log In.
  2. Click ADVANCED SEARCH tab.
  3. Click SEARCH HISTORY/ALERTS tab.
  4. Click box of desired search.
  5. Click SAVE SEARCHES/ALERTS.
  6. Fill in boxes on screen.
  7. Select SAVED SEARCH (PERMANENT).
  8. Click SAVE.

Use Saved Search History

  1. Log In.
  2. Click FOLDER HAS ITEMS.
  3. Click SAVED SEARCHES.
  4. Click RETRIEVE SAVED SEARCH for desired search.
  5. Click RERUN under Results.

Modify Saved Search History

  1. Log In
  2. Click FOLDER HAS ITEMS.
  3. Click SAVED SEARCHES.
  4. Click RETRIEVE SAVED SEARCH
  5. Follow Save Search History (to re-run later) instructions.
  6. In SAVED SEARCHES, click box by desired search history and then DELETE: SELECTED.

Email Alerts

  1. Log In.
  2. Click ADVANCED SEARCH tab and search.
  3. Click SEARCH HISTORY/ALERTS tab.
  4. Click on box of desired search.
  5. Click SAVED SEARCHES/ALERTS link.
  6. Fill in boxes on screen.
  7. Select ALERT.
  8. Fill in boxes.
  9. Click SAVE.

Modify Email Alerts

  1. Log In.
  2. Click MY FOLDER HAS ITEMS.
  3. Click SEARCH ALERTS under MY Folder tab.
  4. Click EDIT ALERTS to change formatting; RETRIEVE ALERT to revise strategy, or box under REMOVE ALL to delete alert.

RefWorks and EndNote

Use software's References/Add new Reference Features to copy and paste parts of citation into appropriate fields.
